Buffalo Bills fans have something to celebrate! Veteran safety Jordan Poyer is officially returning to the Buffalo Bills, joining the team's practice squad, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
A Familiar Face Back in Buffalo
Last season, Poyer played for the Miami Dolphins, but based on some of his social media comments, it was clear that he missed his old teammates and life in Buffalo.
When head coach Sean McDermott first began reshaping the Bills’ culture, Poyer was among his earliest and most impactful signings. And Poyer didn’t disappoint — he became a cornerstone of the defense.
During his seven seasons with the Bills, Poyer recorded:
-
100+ tackles in four separate seasons
-
22 total interceptions with the team
His return brings valuable experience and leadership to the locker room.
Strengthening the Defensive Unit
This isn’t the first time Buffalo has brought back a familiar face recently. Earlier this week, the team also re-signed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to the practice squad.
Micah Hyde has also spent time on the squad, so the Bills clearly see value in bringing back seasoned veterans to guide younger players.
With Taylor Rapp securing his spot as a starting safety, the big question was who would line up alongside him.
Second-year player Cole Bishop has shown flashes of potential but still needs more consistency. Having Poyer as both a mentor and a depth option is a win-win situation for Buffalo.
Fans React to Poyer’s Return
Bills Mafia is buzzing with excitement on social media. Many fans believe Poyer’s return could significantly strengthen the secondary and bring stability to the defense heading into the new NFL season.
